How to Buy Robux with Crypto: What Works and What Gets Declined (2026)

buy robux with crypto

Roblox does not accept cryptocurrency. There is no Bitcoin option, no USDC option, and no on-chain checkout anywhere in the Robux purchase flow. Roblox takes credit and debit cards, PayPal, Roblox gift cards, and in-app purchases through the Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung, and Xbox stores. That is the whole list.

So if your money is on-chain, you have three routes: fund a card with crypto and pay Roblox like any other cardholder, buy a Roblox gift card with crypto and redeem the code, or off-ramp to a bank account and pay with a bank card. The third is the slow fallback -- days instead of minutes -- and it only earns its place when the first two fail.

One thing to settle before you spend anything: gaming purchases depend on the card you hold. Issuers classify merchants by category code, and gaming is a category some card profiles permit and others block outright -- SolCard included. A card without gaming permissions returns an "unauthorized merchant category" style decline, and no amount of extra funding clears it. If your SolCard declines at Roblox, contact support and ask whether your card type supports gaming merchants before you retry. On SolCard card types that permit gaming purchases, Roblox approval rates run from roughly 75% up to about 92%.

Roblox pricing in 2026: Robux, Plus, and gift cards

Robux sells in fixed bundles on the website. As of July 25, 2026, roblox.com/upgrades/robux carries an "Enjoy up to 25% more Robux" banner, and the amounts below are what that page shows under it. Roblox has not said whether the boost is permanent, so re-check the page before you budget against these numbers.

BundlePrice (USD)
270 Robux$2.99
500 Robux$4.99
1,000 Robux$9.99
1,500 Robux$14.99
2,000 Robux$19.99
3,625 Robux$34.99
5,250 Robux$49.99
11,000 Robux$99.99
24,000 Robux$199.99

The subscription side changed this year. Roblox launched Roblox Plus on April 30, 2026 at $4.99 a month globally and closed new signups for the older Premium plans, though existing Premium members keep theirs. Plus gives a 10% discount on in-experience and avatar items, rising to 20% after three consecutive months, plus free private servers and fee-free Robux transfers. Roblox also named three bundles pairing Plus with a recurring monthly Robux stipend -- Plus 500, Plus 1000, and Plus 2000 -- to be offered soon after launch, but it has not published prices for them.

SubscriptionPrice (USD)
Roblox Plus$4.99/mo

Premium 450 / 1000 / 2200$4.99 / $9.99 / $19.99 per month, closed to new signups

Gift cards are the third product and they behave differently from the other two. Redeeming one adds Roblox Credit to the account, and Roblox Credit buys Robux. It does not buy Roblox Plus: that checkout takes credit and debit cards and, since Roblox staff rolled it out on May 5, 2026, PayPal. Roblox's own gift card page does not publish a denomination list, and the resellers covered in Method 2 set their own.

Two caveats: Robux bought inside the mobile apps has historically given fewer Robux per dollar than the website, because app-store commissions are priced in, and prices are set per currency and region, so what you see depends on the account.

Why Roblox is harder to pay for than it looks

Robux is instantly transferable value inside an enormous marketplace, which makes it a standing target for stolen-card testing. Roblox screens for that, issuers screen for it too, and ordinary purchases get caught in the net. Failures then compound: a burst of retries on a digital-goods merchant looks exactly like someone working a list of stolen numbers, so the third attempt clears less often than the first.

There is also a split between one-time and recurring charges. A Robux bundle and a monthly Roblox Plus charge are different transactions, screened separately, and a card can pass one while failing the other. Plus checkout accepts a narrower set of payment types than the Robux flow: it launched credit-card-only, drawing complaints on the Roblox Developer Forum, and Roblox staff added PayPal on May 5, 2026. Roblox Credit, the balance a redeemed gift card creates, is still not on that list.

Two smaller traps round it out. Gift cards are currency and region specific -- a USD card will not redeem on an account set to another currency, and there is no undo after you have paid. And Roblox may authorize before it captures, so a card carrying exactly the purchase price can fail on a hold even though the arithmetic looks right.

Method 1: a crypto-funded debit card

The cleanest route if your card supports gaming merchants. You top up with crypto, the provider converts to fiat, and Roblox sees an ordinary Visa or Mastercard transaction. Same mechanism as any crypto debit card, and the only method that keeps your funds on-chain until checkout while still covering recurring Roblox Plus billing hands-off.

How it works

  1. Sign up for a crypto card provider and get a card number.
  2. Top up with a supported asset. SolCard accepts SOL, USDC, USDT, and SOLC across nine networks: Solana, Ethereum, Polygon, BSC, HyperEVM, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, and Base.
  3. Load a little above the purchase price so an authorization hold cannot push the balance short.
  4. Go to roblox.com in a browser, sign in, and open the Robux or subscription page.
  5. Enter the card details at checkout, using a billing address in the card's issuing country.

Pros:

  • Covers one-time Robux and recurring Roblox Plus billing from the same card.
  • No intermediary holding your money or your code, and no currency-locked code to get wrong.
  • Platinum adds a physical card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and no monthly limit; it requires identity verification.

Cons:

  • Gaming merchant permissions vary by card type. That is the gating factor, not the balance.
  • The Virtual tier charges a 5% top-up fee and caps at $5,000 a month.
  • Buying inside the Roblox apps still routes through the app store.

What 2,000 Robux at $19.99 actually costs you. SolCard Platinum: $19.99, since the tier charges 0% on top-ups. SolCard Virtual: $20.99 on the 5% top-up fee. Both tiers carry the same one-time $10 issuance fee, so that charge is not a reason to pick one over the other. RedotPay: $20.19, because crypto deposits into the RedotPay wallet are free and the charge is a 1% conversion fee, with a further 1.2% FX markup when the merchant does not bill in your card's default currency. Bitrefill sells Roblox gift cards at face value with no stated markup, and Coinsbee varies by asset and region. The FX line only applies when Roblox bills in a currency other than your card's; if both settle in USD, ignore it.

Method 2: Roblox gift cards bought with crypto

If your card blocks gaming merchants, or you simply want to keep the payment off a card entirely, this is the workaround. You pay a gift card platform in crypto and receive a redeemable Roblox code.

How it works

  1. Open a gift card platform that sells Roblox codes for crypto -- Bitrefill, Coinsbee, and CryptoRefills all do.
  2. Pick the right region and currency for your Roblox account. Get this wrong and the code is dead weight.
  3. Choose a denomination. Resellers set their own: Bitrefill's US Roblox card lists $10, $20, $50, $100, $200, and $500 presets plus a custom amount, and takes Bitcoin, Lightning, Ethereum, USDT, USDC, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and Dash.
  4. Pay and wait for the code by email, usually within minutes.
  5. Redeem it at roblox.com/redeem to add Roblox Credit to the account, then spend the credit on Robux.

Pros:

  • Sidesteps card merchant-category restrictions entirely, and accepts assets no card program takes.
  • Codes arrive within minutes and redemption is a first-party Roblox flow.

Cons:

  • Currency and region locked. There is no undo.
  • Robux only. Roblox Credit is not an accepted payment type for Roblox Plus, so a gift card cannot fund the subscription at all.
  • You are trusting an intermediary between your crypto and your code.
  • Markups vary by platform and asset and are not always shown up front.

Method 3: off-ramp to a bank card

Move the money off-chain first and pay Roblox with an ordinary bank card. Bank-issued cards rarely carry gaming category restrictions, so approval rates are the highest of the three methods. They are also the slowest to arrange by a wide margin.

How it works

  1. Sell your crypto for fiat on an exchange that serves your country.
  2. Withdraw the fiat to your bank account and wait for it to land, typically one to five business days.
  3. Pay at roblox.com with the bank's own debit or credit card.

Pros:

  • Highest approval odds, since gaming blocks are mostly a prepaid and virtual card problem.
  • Handles recurring Roblox Plus billing natively, and unlocks PayPal as a second option.
  • No card program or reseller sitting between you and Roblox.

Cons:

  • One to five business days, against minutes for the other two methods.
  • Exchange fees and a withdrawal fee stack on top of anything the bank charges.
  • Requires a bank account in a country your exchange supports.
  • The sale is a disposal for tax purposes, and it takes the balance off-chain for good.

Step-by-step: buying Robux with a crypto card

1. Check that your card permits gaming merchants

Do this first, because if your card type blocks the gaming category nothing else in this list matters. The cheapest way to find out empirically is the smallest bundle -- 270 Robux at $2.99 -- rather than loading a large balance and discovering the block at checkout.

2. Fund the card with a buffer

Top up at least $25 for a $19.99 purchase. The buffer absorbs authorization holds and any FX spread. Stablecoins keep the amount predictable, since the value does not move between transfer and purchase.

3. Buy on the Roblox website, not the app

Open roblox.com in a browser and sign in. The website processes card payments directly; the mobile app routes through the app store instead, which changes both the price and the payment method.

4. Complete checkout

Pick your bundle, choose "Pay another way" if the card is not already saved, and enter the number, expiry, and CVV against a billing address in the card's issuing country.

5. Confirm the charge

Check your card provider's transaction history. If you subscribed to Roblox Plus, keep a balance on the card ahead of each renewal date.

Troubleshooting Roblox declines

"Unauthorized merchant category" or an instant generic decline. Almost certainly a merchant-category block, not a funding problem. Adding money will not fix it. Contact your card provider and ask specifically whether gaming merchants are permitted on your card type.

Declined despite sufficient funds. Look for an authorization hold that exceeds your balance, then check that your billing address country matches the card's issuing country.

First charge worked, renewal failed. The recurring transaction is screened separately, so keep a balance above the subscription price and confirm the card supports card-on-file billing.

Repeated attempts making it worse. Wait 24 hours between attempts with different cards.

Gift card code rejected. Check the region and currency against your Roblox account settings. A mismatch cannot be fixed after purchase.

The verdict by user type

If your card supports gaming merchants: use the card. Lowest friction, handles recurring Roblox Plus billing, no code to lose or region to get wrong. SolCard Platinum charges 0% on top-ups, so 2,000 Robux at $19.99 costs $19.99; holding that tier requires identity verification.

If your card blocks gaming merchants: use a gift card for Robux. No card program's merchant rules apply to a redemption code. Double-check the region before you pay, and treat this as a Robux-only route.

If you are funding a Roblox Plus subscription: a gift card is not an option, because Plus does not accept Roblox Credit. That leaves a card that clears gaming merchants, or PayPal funded from a bank. Keep the balance above the monthly price ahead of each renewal date -- a lapse costs you the accumulated Plus discount tier, which climbs to 20% after three consecutive months.

If you are paying for a child's account: a card gives you a spending ceiling, since you control the balance. That fits the pattern in what crypto card users buy: small, recurring purchases rather than large one-offs.

Tax implications

In most jurisdictions, spending crypto is a disposal, and a disposal is a taxable event. That applies whether you sell on an exchange first or spend through a card that converts at the point of sale. The IRS treats digital assets as property for this purpose.

Paying with a stablecoin is the simplest case: if you bought USDC at a dollar and spend it at a dollar, the gain is effectively zero, even though the disposal still occurred. Paying with SOL means calculating cost basis against value at the moment of purchase, every time. For a fuller treatment, including record-keeping for frequent small purchases like Robux top-ups, see our guide on spending crypto without tax headaches. Rules vary by country and this is not tax advice.

Frequently asked questions

Does Roblox accept Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency?

No. There is no direct crypto option anywhere in the Robux or subscription checkout, only cards, PayPal, gift cards, and the mobile app stores. To pay with crypto you need a crypto-funded card or a gift card bought with crypto.

Can I buy Robux with USDC or USDT?

Not directly on Roblox. You can load USDC or USDT onto a crypto card and pay Roblox with that card, or buy a Roblox gift card from a platform that accepts stablecoins. SolCard accepts SOL, USDC, USDT, and SOLC across nine networks. Whether the resulting card payment clears at Roblox depends on your card type -- see the next question.

Why does my crypto card get declined at Roblox?

The most common cause is a merchant-category block. Gaming is a category some card profiles permit and others do not, and a blocked card declines instantly regardless of balance. Adding funds will not help. Contact your card provider and ask whether your card type supports gaming merchants. If it does, check the usual suspects next: an authorization hold above your balance, a billing-address country mismatch, or fraud screening after repeated failed attempts.

How do I check which SolCard tier I hold before topping up?

Open the card in the SolCard dashboard. Virtual is the online-only tier: a $5,000 monthly limit, a 5% top-up fee, and 1-2% FX. Platinum is physical, has no monthly limit, charges 0% on top-ups, drops FX to 0-1.5%, adds Apple Pay and Google Pay, and requires identity verification. Both tiers carry the same one-time $10 issuance fee. Check this before you load funds, because the tier decides both what a $19.99 purchase costs you and how much you can put through the card in a month.

Is it cheaper to buy Robux with a card or a gift card?

Usually a card, if yours permits gaming merchants. On the Platinum tier a Robux bundle costs its sticker price, because nothing is added on top-up; on Virtual the 5% top-up fee adds about a dollar to a $19.99 bundle. The one-time $10 issuance fee is the same on both tiers, so it does not separate them. Gift card platforms sell at or near face value, but the markup varies by platform, asset, and region and is not always shown before checkout. Compare the full landscape in our crypto debit card comparison.

Can I pay for a Roblox Plus subscription with crypto?

Yes, through a crypto-funded card that supports recurring billing and gaming merchants. The card stays on file and Roblox charges it monthly, so keep a balance above the subscription price. A gift card is not a substitute here: Plus checkout accepts credit and debit cards and, since Roblox staff rolled it out on May 5, 2026, PayPal -- Roblox Credit is not on that list, so a redeemed gift card cannot pay for the subscription.

Can I use Apple Pay for Roblox with a crypto card?

SolCard Platinum supports Apple Pay and Google Pay, so the card can be added to a wallet and used where those are accepted. The same merchant-category rules still apply -- a wallet does not change how a transaction is categorized. SolCard cards run on Visa and Mastercard rails and work in over 200 countries, though they are not available in Hong Kong. For setup, see our guide on using Apple Pay with a crypto card.
