OMNY's 7-day cap is earned as you ride instead of being prepaid like a MetroCard weekly pass. Once you reach 12 paid fares on eligible services, additional rides are free for the rest of that 7-day window.

OMNY says fare-capping and transfer benefits depend on using the same device or card every time. If you switch between a physical card and that same card in a mobile wallet, OMNY treats them as separate payment methods.

If you prefer riding with an OMNY card, you can link it to a free account, reload it online, and even enable automatic reloads when the balance gets low. That creates a clear SolCard use case beyond tapping a bank card at the reader.

Registered OMNY users can review up to one year of trip and charge history on omny.info. That is especially helpful when your issuer shows a temporary placeholder after a tap and you want to compare it against OMNY's own records.

OMNY lets one payment method cover up to three additional riders, but only the first tap counts toward the 7-day fare cap and all riders need the same reader to keep free transfers. SolCard can serve as a dedicated payment method for that group-fare pattern.
